The Municipality of Pegeia has now implemented a long-standing request of professional fishermen who are active in the fishing shelter of Agios Georgios in Pegeia, as well as hundreds of other shopkeepers and visitors of the area. It is a question of electrifying the fishing shelter in order to increase safety in the area.
The Mayor of Pegeia, Marinos Lambrou, told "F" that after coordinated and strenuous efforts of the municipal authority, the electrification of this area has become a fact, in order to contribute decisively to the prevention of burglaries and thefts that are occasionally observed both in the boats of professional fishermen, as well as in the premises of Agios Georgios.
"This is a project of great importance", stressed Marinos Lambrou, "to which the Municipality of Pegeia had given priority and managed to complete, contributing now to the further upgrading and development of the entire region".
Sponsored by this development were the many citizens who established at this time of the pandemic their walk in the picturesque harbour as an exercise and recreation before the hours of confinement and who can now more comfortably enjoy at all times the beauty of the area.
