DR YIALLOUROU - 200 WOMEN WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED BREAST CANCER NEEDED FOR STUDY

A study is being conducted for the first time with the participation of volunteers who experience breast cancer, with the aim of documenting specific aspects of the lives of women diagnosed with breast cancer, to be operated on for breast cancer.

Assistant Professor of Surgical Medicine at the University of Cyprus Anneza Yiallourou told ACTIVE that the study is not about the therapeutic part, but about the quality of life, anxiety, depression and stress they face with the diagnosis of breast cancer and the need to have surgery.

He explained that, "what we want to see, how these factors change after the surgery, whether the different operations show differences in how the woman perceives her quality of life and especially if factors are identified that have to do with the character of the woman and how she perceives the changes in her life."

For the study, the Medical School of the University of Cyprus, the breast clinic of plastic surgery of Nicosia General Hospital, the American Medical Centre, PASYKAF and Europa Donna Cyprus collaborate.

Dr. Yiallou invites women who are interested in participating in the study voluntarily, to contact the phone 22895224. He assured of the anonymity that will be observed and described it as important that, the study is not going to be intrusive in the treatment, but will be in the form of a questionnaire.
