Cypriot citizens are advised to avoid travel to Ukraine, the foreign ministry said in an advisory on Sunday, following indications of a potential escalation of the tension in the area.

The advisory also called on Cypriot citizens permanently living or temporarily staying in Ukraine, to register their contact details through the platform Conect2Cy or via the embassy of Cyprus in Kiev.

The ministry also advised that individuals should be ready to change their travel plans on short notice, due to the possibility of further escalation. If their presence in the country is not necessary Cypriot citizens are encouraged to leave the country.
