The Ministry of Health announced two more deaths in the last 24 hours, while new cases stood at 2,907.
Specifically:
- 2 deaths were announced from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 740.
- 218 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 61 are in serious condition. 72.48% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 21 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases) continue to be hospitalized intubated in serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
- A total of 117,045 disease detection tests have been performed using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 2,907 (positivity rate: 2.48%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 266,823. The total number has been updated based on data from the National Epidemiological Risk Report published today. A relevant announcement has been issued with information.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The 2 deaths announced with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concern:
- Man, aged 85, who died on February 3rd at Larnaka General Hospital.
- Woman, aged 80 years, who died on February 3rd in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Based on the data of the National Epidemiological Risk Report, two more deaths have been announced that were reported late, and concern:
- A man, aged 53, who died on January 28th in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Woman, aged 63, who died on April 8, 2021 at the Accident and Emergency Department of Larnaka General Hospital.
As a result, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 740, of which:
- 462 men (62.4%), and
- 278 women (37.6%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 76.2 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 218 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 61 are in serious condition or in conditions of PPE.
Of the 61 patients who are in serious condition, 27 are intubated, 6 are hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit off the ventilator and 28 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 117,045 diagnoses performed, 6,015 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 111,030 by the antigen rapid test method, 2907 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 54 cases from 496 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 34 cases from 2,477 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 337 cases from 2,487 samples were taken through a private initiative.
- 41 cases from 408 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1,528 cases from 50,062 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 910 cases from 60,968 samples examined by the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health's program.
- 3 cases from 147 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
