One death was recorded in Cyprus from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 741, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Health. Also 2,568 (positivity rate: 2.95%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 269,391.
At the same time, 225 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 65 are in serious condition. 73.34% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination. 19 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases) continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit. A total of 87,025 disease detection tests have been performed using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
Today's results follow in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The 1 death announced with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:
- Woman, aged 94, who died on February 4th at the Limassol General Hospital.
As a result, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 741, of which:
- 462 men (62.3%), and
- 279 women (37.7%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 76.2 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 225 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 65 are in serious condition or in conditions of PPE.
Of the 65 patients who are in serious condition, 29 are intubated, 4 are hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit off the ventilator and 32 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 87,025 diagnoses performed, 5,859 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 81,166 by the antigen rapid test method, 2,568 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 57 cases from 3,179 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 323 cases from 2,415 samples were taken through private initiative.
- 26 cases from 265 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1,301 cases from 45,191 samples examined by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 861 cases from 35,975 samples were examined using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health's program.
