2,304 NEW CASES, FIVE DEATHS - Friday 18 February

Five deaths of COVID-19 patients and 2,304 new coronavirus cases were announced Friday by the Ministry of Health. The positivity rate in the total number of tests is 2.08%.

The total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 819 and the number of cases is 302,661.

In addition, 170 COVID-19 patients are being treated in the hospitals of the CySEC, 41 in serious condition. In the ICU 13 intubated and in the Increased Care Units 28.

The deaths concern a woman, aged 79, who died on 17 February, a woman, aged 87, who died on 17 February, a man, aged 72, who died on 18 February, a woman, aged 51, who died on 18 February, and a man, aged 92, who died on 18 February.

The percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination is 68.24%. Twenty-eight patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

A total of 110,891 diagnostic tests were performed. Specifically, 6,938 molecular tests were performed, which resulted in 334 positive cases, with a positivity rate of 4.81% and 103,953 rapid antigen tests, which resulted in 1,970 positive cases, a positivity rate of 1.9%.

As part of the tracing, 620 molecular tests were performed and 53 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 8.55%). There were also 1,006 rapid antigen tests and 84 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 8.35%).

On private initiative, 1,964 molecular tests were performed, 227 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 11.56%). There were also 45,051 rapid antigen tests, 1,171 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 2.6%)

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 58,902 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 799 positive cases were identified.

At the sampling points, 17,814 rapid detection tests were performed and 455 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 2.55%).

In Primary Education, 20,401 rapid antigen tests were performed and 114 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.56%) and in Secondary Education 11,563 rapid detection tests and 67 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.58%)

For the Test-to-Stay measure, 5,402 rapid antigen tests were performed and 55 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 1.02%).

In Special Schools, 305 rapid antigen tests were performed and no positive cases were detected (positivity rate 0%)

In nursing homes, 985 rapid antigen tests were performed and 22 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 2.23%)

Also in closed structures, 169 rapid antigen tests were performed and no new cases were detected (positivity rate 0%).

In Government Agencies, 1,257 rapid antigen tests were performed and 2 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.16%).
