2,200 NEW CASES, FOUR DEATHS - Thursday 17 February

According to the Ministry of Health, today, February 17, 2022, four deaths due to Covıd-19 were announced (one occurred on February 16 and the other three today), while 2,200 new cases were identified due to the disease.

Specifically:

  • 4 deaths reported
  • They concern:
    • Woman, aged 67, who died on February 16
    • Man, aged 63, who died on February 17
    • Man, aged 89, who died on February 17
    • Man, aged 93, who died on February 17
  • Total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19: 802.
  • 168 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 43 in serious condition (ICU: 0 out of breath/12 intubated, PPE: 31)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 66.08%
  • 29 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 99,502 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 2,200 new cases were identified (total cases 300,435).
  • Positivity rate in total tests 2.21%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 7,389 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 311 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 4.21%
  • Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):
  • 92,113 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 1,889 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 2.05%

 Tracking:

  • 255 molecular tests were performed and 22 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 8.63%)
  • 928 rapid antigen tests were performed and 74 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 7.97%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,880 molecular tests were performed, 208 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 11.06%)
  • 44,060 rapid antigen tests were performed, 1,157 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 2.63%)

Through the programmes of the Ministry of Health, 48,053 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 732 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 18,367 rapid detection tests identified 516 positive cases (positivity rate 2.81%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 20,490 rapid antigen tests, 74 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.36%)
  • Secondary Education: 2,196 rapid screening tests identified 12 positive cases (positivity rate 0.55%)
  • Test-to-Stay: 3,035 rapid antigen tests were performed and 34 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.12%)
  • Special Schools: 488 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.61%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 1,049 rapid antigen tests were performed, 12 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.14%)
  • Closed structures: 248 rapid antigen tests were performed, 2 new cases were identified (positivity rate 0.81%).
  • Government Agencies: 1,252 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.40%)
