Note:
The numbers mentioned in the announcement are indicative and may vary based on the final and updated data sent in the context of the National Epidemiological Risk Report published every other Friday.
Changing the way daily results are announced has a twofold goal.
On the one hand, the way in which the results were announced daily is simplified, so that they are more easily understood by media officers and citizens. Moreover, the announcement has not removed data, apart from the analysis of hospitalized patients per hospital (and will now be given in total for all hospitals) which is not considered necessary since it does not give substantial data in relation to the course and monitoring of the pandemic.
On the other hand, the tests carried out by population category are grouped together, in order to draw more correct conclusions at a scientific level as well.
For example, the severity of the results and positivity rate through the tracing process is different from the severity of the results performed daily and concern people who need a negative result for SafePass purposes.
In the same way, the positivity rate from the checks carried out in schools is of different gravity from the rest of the corresponding percentage since through this, the situation in school units can be monitored more correctly.
Based on this philosophy, it was deemed necessary to change the way the results were announced daily. It is emphasized that subsequently and depending on the data that emerges per phase of the pandemic, further changes and adjustments may be made.
