1,606 NEW CASES, FOUR DEATHS - Saturday 26 February

Four deaths and 1,606 new cases of COVID-19 were announced Saturday by the Ministry of Health. The positivity rate fell to 1.62%, while 152 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in public hospitals.

The deaths relate to an 83-year-old man who died on 25 February, an 84-year-old man, who died on 26 February, a 73-year-old woman who died on 26 February, a woman, aged 90, who died on 26 February. The total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 852.

Of the 152 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, 32 are in serious condition. Of these, one is hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit off the ventilator, 12 are intubated and 19 are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units. The percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination is 60.93%. Also, 24 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

As announced, a total of 98,933 diagnostic tests were performed and 1,606 new cases were identified, bringing the total number of cases to 318,773. The positivity rate in the total number of tests was 1.62%.

6,263 molecular tests (PCR) were performed, which resulted in 231 positive cases with the positivity rate standing at 3.69%.

92,670 rapid antigen tests were performed and 1,375 positive cases were found, with a positivity rate of 1.48%.

As part of the tracing, 45 molecular tests were performed and 3 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 6.67%), while 1,045 rapid antigen tests were performed and 59 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 5.65%)

Following a private initiative, 1,729 molecular tests were performed and 165 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 9.54%). Also, 54,559 rapid antigen tests were performed and 859 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.57%)

Through the programmes of the Ministry of Health, 38,111 rapid antigen tests were carried out and 516 positive cases were identified. At the sampling points, 36,809 rapid detection tests were performed and 457 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 1.24%). In nursing homes, 257 rapid antigen tests were performed without any positive results.
