Film lovers and francophones this festival is for you! The 12th edition of the My French Film Festival returns this January with 30 films subtitled in 10 languages and available worldwide. For one whole month starting from January 14, the festival’s online platform will stream selected films divided into seven thematic sections that reflect the diversity and vitality of French-language cinema.
The festival is an innovative concept whose goal is to shine a light on new generation French-language filmmakers and give internet users across the globe the chance to share their enthusiasm for French cinema. This is the world’s first online French-language film festival with an international jury selecting the films to be shown each year on MyFrenchFilmFestival.com
Ten feature films and ten short films are presented in competition, including a feature film and a short film from Belgium. Internet users are invited to rate all of these films and to post their comments on the platform. The line-up also offers an out-of-competition programme that includes a Swiss feature film and short film, a Canadian feature film and short film, a programme for young audiences, a VR section, and a selection of French cinema classics.
The seven film categories all highlight different concepts, whether about the cinema world or life. The French and Furious category is a selection of films that are dynamite in the new-generation auteur cinema scene, while Bold Youth presents different perspectives on the unconditional energy of youth. Troubled Identities highlights what happens when the search for meaning starts with a search for a sense of self. Things get steamier in the A Cinema of Desire category which is a brief tour of awakenings to love, desire and sensuality.
The Night Tales category focuses on what we become between nightfall and dawn while Voyage category discovers new horizons. The Kids Corner this year brings a selection of silent animated shorts directed by promising young directors fresh out of film school.
Between January 14 and February 14, all films will be available on the platform and over 70 partner platforms for cinema lovers to enjoy. Short films are available free of charge in all countries, and feature films are available for viewing individually for €1.99 or €7.99 for with a Festival Pack. Comedies, romcoms, dramas, documentaries, animations, cinema classics and silent films will all be featured. Simply register, watch, vote and…long live cinema!
