INCREASED GRAFFITI IN PAPHOS

Filenews 9 January 2022 - by Dora Christodoulou

Paphos does not need smudged walls, insulting slogans, symbols and vulgar phrases on walls or buildings. Nor, of course, is there any need to desecrate the statues that adorn it, nor to vandalize the historic importance of buildings, nor should we dismantle what is beautiful and new. This is pointed out by the municipal councillor of EDEK in the Municipality of Paphos, Philippos Filippou, who refers to unprecedented and intensifying phenomena of disrespect for the environment, parks, playgrounds and public property of the city in general.

"Paphos needs respect, education and culture," he says. ''It needs a youth with a strong point of view and love for its city. So let the various organized people help us in this effort and let them prove to us that they really love sports, culture and above all our Paphos.

Respect is not to smudge your city to make any statement. Graffiti is the act as a result of  drugs, illegality, intimidation and xenophobia."

Mr. Philippou stresses that the young people of Paphos should not be turned into part of the disaster and invites them to work with the municipal authority for a better Paphos.
