GREEN DOT RECYCLING COLLECTION FROM YOUR DOOR
Please note that collections are on a Monday - collections can start from 4am so please put your recycling out the night before. Please leave the bags on the pavement - not in your binhouse.
It is important to use the correct bags and to separate your recycling. Also important is please to ensure that plastic/cans are rinsed before recycling.
1 Paper/cardboard. Can be left in a cardboard box, or in a clear brown recycling bag. Alternatively, the box/paper can be flattened, folded and tied with string. Do not include wrapping paper, napkins/toilet paper, paper plates or paper glasses, juice packaging or kitchen towel.
2 Plastics/cans. Should be left in a clear recycling bag, or if you are on a complex with a blue recycling bin, into this blue bin. In this bag include plastics, aluminium*, tinplate and Tetrapack. Do not include plastic toys, plastic plates and plastic glasses, snack packaging [crisp bags and the like], plastic chairs, polystyrene or masks.
Glass is not collected from your door. There are glass recycling bins [green domed containers] around the village, in the carparks of Papantiniou Supermarkets and at the Green Centre at Chlorakas [where you can take any garden cuttings, old electrical items, old plastic furniture, etc] free of charge. Please do not place glass from windows, cups/mugs, porcelain dishes, polystyrene or light bulbs into the glass recycling containers.
*Aluminium cans, or aluminium containers - these can be recycled for Cans for Kids in the cage at the amphitheatre carpark. Please place in bags before putting into the cage.
