 Filenews 10 January 2022

For the time being, the further tightening of the measures against the spread of the coronavirus is excluded, according to secure information from the CNA, which speaks of a wait-and-see attitude on the part of the Ministry of Health, until the new more stringent measures taken on January 5, 2022, are delivered.

Minister and Epidemiologists meet tomorrow - Critical in the next 24 hours

The Minister of Health, Michalis Hadjipantelas, and the members of the Advisory Scientific Committee are meeting tomorrow, in order to evaluate the epidemiological picture, while on the table are expected to be put recommendations of experts for new more stringent measures, which will be used - if and when - the situation deteriorates.

As stated to the CNA, a competent source during tomorrow's meeting of the Minister of Health with epidemiologists will be evaluated in the current phase, to note that "the next 24 hours are critical".

He also said that the Ministry of Health will closely monitor the epidemiological picture in the coming days and will decide accordingly whether to tighten the measures or not.

The same source points out that the tightening of the measures is something that is not being considered at the moment, while noting that it has not yet been a week since the new stricter measures were taken (January 5th) and it takes time for them to pay off.

He also says that at this stage the situation is stable and manageable in public hospitals, however, he adds that tomorrow recommendations for stricter measures will be put on the table, in case the situation gets out of hand and there is a rapid increase in hospitalizations.

Nocturnal curfew is ruled out

In response to a relevant question from the CNA, the same source said that for the moment no scenario is being discussed, concerning the movement of citizens.

He also said that the possibility of a night curfew is ruled out for the time being.

"The situation will be constantly assessed and if there is a sharp increase in patients in the ICU and it is deemed necessary, the Cabinet will meet as an emergency for decisions," he concluded.
