Four deaths were announced from COVID-19, of which three were recorded yesterday and one today, bringing the total number of deaths to 730, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Health.
203 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 68 are in serious condition. 74.39% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
19 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases) continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
2,184 (positivity rate: 2.61%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified from 83,766 tests - molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 251,125.
It is worth noting that 21 cases were detected in nursing homes.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The 4 deaths announced with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concern:
- A man, aged 83, who died on January 28th at the Limassol General Hospital.
- A man, aged 70, who died on January 28th in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Man, aged 92, who died on January 28 at Nicosia General Hospital.
- A man, aged 92, who died on January 29 at famagusta General Hospital.
As a result, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 730, of which:
- 456 men (62.5%), and
- 274 women (37.5%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 76.2 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 203 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 68 are in serious condition or in conditions of PPE.
Of the 68 patients who are in serious condition, 27 are intubated, 5 are hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit off the ventilator and 36 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 83,766 diagnoses performed, 5,970 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 77,796 by the antigen rapid test method, 2,184 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 31 cases from 156 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 59 cases from 3,032 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 308 cases from 2,538 samples were taken through private initiative.
- 13 cases from 224 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1,052 cases from 43,782 samples examined by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 721 cases from 34,014 samples tested by the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health's program.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 0 cases from 20 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
