THE RING TIGHTENS AROUND THE 32-YEAR-OLD FOR THE TWO RUSSIAN WOMEN

Filenews 1 December 2021 - by Michalis Hadjivasilis

In a tight interrogation ring is the 32-year-old Syrian who is in custody to facilitate the interrogations for the kidnapping of two women from Russia, who daily goes through repeated interrogations at the IOC of Larnaca in order to give explanations for what happened at the cottage in Kato Amiantos.

The investigations around the cottage to locate the two Russian women, aged 43 and 33, were interrupted yesterday after they did not bring results, while the taking of statements from various persons continued, mainly in Larnaca but also in Limassol. Also, the data from the telecommunications data of the suspect as well as a phone call of one of the two women are expected to show the calls made before their transfer to Kato Amiantos on November 17, but also after. Also, the position of the mobile phones was searched in order to show any route that their owners took.

Information from "F" reports that the two women were using mobile phones that were not registered and their data may not be located, while it is noted that no possessions of the two was found at the cottage. Syros had contacted the two via a mobile phone posted in an advert, but this mobile phone is not registered with any provider.

Information from "F" reports that outside the cottage two used cartridges were found which were received for ballistic examinations. Syros is a hunter and has a shotgun and has given some allegations that will be investigated.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Syrian, who is wanted by the Police in connection with the disappearance of the two, remains missing. Investigators focus on the role of the 23-year-old Syrian, the relations the two had and especially whether he was also in the country house in Amiantos during the period in question. The 23-year-old was named by the 32-year-old, who allegedly told police that he may know where the two women are. "Maybe he caught them, ask him," the arrested man said.

The 23-year-old, who is being sought in the case, is a person known to the Limassol police authorities for other cases involving drugs and burglaries. They even wanted him for burglaries and thefts.

The headaches that investigators face is what went wrong at the cottage that probably led to the double crime. The fact that the traces of the two Russian women disappeared from November 17, and the bloodstains found in the basement of the cottage and in a backhoe identified with one, allude to a crime. Evidence remains to be found as to who carried out the heinous act and why.

Also, in an effort to find out which of the two women belongs to the blood found in K. Amiantos, they will seek the help of Interpol. Specifically, samples of genetic material from first-degree relatives of the two missing women will be sent to compare them with what was found, so that the authorities know exactly to whom the blood belongs.

As we wrote yesterday, the 32-year-old after leaving the cottage, went to Limassol and Larnaca, where he used the credit card of one of the two Russian women, which was found along with her id card. This action causes investigators who wonder why a girl who met someone then gave him her visa and her identity card. Syros gives an allegation that is being studied, while the day before yesterday he asked for the services of a lawyer.

Test results awaited

Yesterday, police spokesman Christos Andreou said that even the smallest information may be valuable for investigators, so he called on the public who may know something to report it to the authorities. He did not rule out the possibility that, if the 23-year-old wanted man is not arrested, his details and photograph would be released in order to help the public locate him.

Mr. Andreou told us that during the investigations carried out the day before yesterday inside and outside the cottage in Amiantos, new evidence was identified and received, which has already been sent for scientific examinations. "The evidence that has been received and identified with specific persons is from the investigations that took place on November 26. The investigations in this area have been completed. It's a large area and if there is concrete testimony about the site or elsewhere, we'll go there for further testing."

He explained that evidence has been found both in the home and in the possession of the 32-year-old suspect, which "paved" the way for an investigation of a criminal act regarding the disappearance of the two women.

The offense being investigated against him is conspiracy to commit a felony and kidnapping.
