PROTOCOL REVIEW FOR VACCINATED UNDER REVIEW

 Filenews 9 December 2021

A recommendation to revise the protocols for vaccinated, close contacts of coronavirus cases seems to be being studied by the Scientific Advisory Committee.

Speaking on state radio, Professor of Molecular Virology, member of the committee, Petros Karagiannis, said that the issue has already been discussed and will be raised again in the next session and possibly the protocol will be changed.

The weather, he added, and the fact that everyone is indoors favours the transmission of the virus. If someone is unvaccinated the risk increases, he explained.

Asked about the distribution of cases by city, Dr Karagiannis said that by analogy the dispersion is the same in all cities with a slightly higher positivity rate in Paphos. In Nicosia, he explained, more cases are recorded because three times the number of tests is being carried out.
