After the old premises that recently hosted an Arabic bakery, on the traffic lights despite the Papantoniou supermarket, in the centre of Pafos and the building complex of another era and style on the opposite side of the road, in which occasionally operated bank branches, foreign exchange offices and other businesses, the series for demolition took another abandoned old building in the same area. It is the well-known two-storey building on Evagoras Pallikaridis Avenue, just before the mansion of the Evagoras Pafos Association.
The demolition took place in the presence of dozens of citizens who had gathered for the impressive spectacle and the now unusual aspect of one of the most central parts of the city. These demolitions had been predetermined and are part of the planning of the total redevelopment of the avenues of Ellados Avenue and Evagoras Pallikaridis.
At this point, based on the design, a large traffic junction will be constructed that will channel traffic to the major roads of the areas, such as Ellados Avenue, Evagora Pallikaridis, Eleftheriou Venizelou and the smaller roads to the shopping centre and the district of Mouttalos. Along with the "clearing" of the old and non-functional buildings at the beginning of Ellados Avenue, the major project continues further north, with the contractor's crews having already reached the traffic lights of Viofos, closing one traffic stream of the avenue and continuing the interventions on the roadway.
Demolitions of old buildings are also being promoted by the municipal authority in other parts of the city centre, where redevelopment works are also planned. Such demolition was that of the old building of SEK Pafos, in Ioannis Agrotis, a stone's throw from the central square of Kennedy.
