An organization in Pafos that for years has been on the side of our fellow kidney patients, while contributing morally and financially to Paphos Hospital, has made donations of its members to an important purchase to help this category of our fellow human beings. The Paphos Kidney Association has managed to proceed with the purchase of a haemodialysis machine for the purpose of its administration to the Dialysis Department of Paphos Hospital, with a significant expense, but asks the state that this purchase be exempted from VAT, since the required amount of €6,000 has not been collected at this stage.
This machine is a mobile unit with the ability to transport and utilise it within other hospitals in the provinces, and where the need arises. The cost of buying the machine is €32,000 plus VAT. The Association has managed to collect the significant amount for the purchase, but the machine in question is subject to another €6,000 of VAT, which is not available at the moment.
In a letter to the Minister of Finance, the legal advisor of the Association, Savvas Savvidis, makes a request, so that at the discretion of the Minister, if and when it is possible, a VAT exemption for the said machine is made so that the specific deduction of the amount of €6,000 is considered as a contribution of the state.

The Paphos Kidney Association and other bodies of Pafos support the initiative of Mr. Savvidis, as this machine is vital since it will be able to serve a significant number of our fellow human beings whose health is beset by this disease.
"We hope that both the Minister and the competent authorities will be sensitized and will act accordingly," reads a statement. "These days, our government, more than ever, should and must show its human face."
