According to the all-night investigations of the authorities, which followed the discovery of the dead British woman in her home in Tremithousa, the initial information received by the Police about the involvement of the, also British, husband in the death of his wife, is confirmed.
The Police, based on the evidence that emerged during the investigations, received information from Interpol that this British permanent resident of Pafos sent a message abroad saying that he would kill his wife because she was suffering from leukaemia. In the same message he said that he would end his life.
Authorities who rushed to the scene late Saturday night found the 74-year-old woman dead, while her 75-year-old husband was in a faint-hearted state and, according to initial information from authorities, he allegedly consumed a quantity of pills and alcohol.
The man was taken under guard to Paphos Hospital. During his transportation, the 75-year-old Briton allegedly admitted to strangling his wife.
An autopsy at the scene was conducted by coroner Nikolas Charalambous, who found that the 75-year-old had bruises and abrasions on her face and that her death was allegedly due to a criminal act. At a later stage, the 75-year-old's legal autopsy is expected to take place.
Moreover, in his statements, the police director of Pafos, Nikos Tsapis, who visited the scene last night, said that during the investigation of the case and from the preliminary examinations of the members of the Pafos ICU, testimony was secured and the Police are investigating a case of murder against a 75-year-old. He also said an arrest warrant for her 74-year-old husband is expected to be issued today, while the interrogation will continue.
Investigations into the case of premeditated murder are continuing by the Pafos IAU.
