As shown by the data of the first week, interest in the Electric Vehicle Sponsorship Scheme is particularly high, which proves that citizens recognize the benefits of electromobility and the importance of the transition to green transport and sustainable mobility more broadly.
The first phase of the Plan entered into force on Monday, December 20, 2021, and will be completed on Monday, January 3, 2022, with a budget of €8 million. So far, a total of 4,269 applications have been submitted, which have exceeded the number of approvals to be given under phase one for most vehicle categories.
Sponsorships are currently available for the following categories:
- Used electric taxi vehicle
- Used electric wheelchair
- Mopeds – Motorcycles

It is recalled that the amounts that will be allocated for the purpose of purchasing a new electric vehicle range from €9,000 to €19,000, while the sponsorship amounts for the purchase of a used electric vehicle start from €4,000 and reach €12,000.
In addition, the applicant may, if he/she wishes, withdraw an old vehicle, over 12 years old, and receive an additional grant of €1,000. The additional amount of €1,000 is granted both in the case of purchase of a new one and in the case of the purchase of a used electric vehicle.
Finally, it should be noted that, if the application is pre-approved, the beneficiary has two months to submit proof of order for the new/used electric vehicle and a time limit of 12 months for the registration of the electric vehicle. The sponsorship is given upon registration of the vehicle, within 12 months from the pre-approval.
