6,685 coronavirus cases were recorded in the last 14 days in Cyprus, according to the national report of the last two weeks, which was made public by the Ministry of Health. As the national report states, the cumulative 14-day incidence of COVID-19 (diagnosed 14-day cases per 100,000 inhabitants) is 752.8.
Regarding the median age of coronavirus cases, it was 33 years (Intraquartile range: 15 - 47 years), where 50.5% concern women and 49.4% in men, while for 7 cases there was currently no information available.
According to the national report regarding the epidemiological history, 3.5% were cases with a recent travel history, while 96.5% were cases of domestic transmission – out of 6,583 cases (98.5%) with the relevant information available.
As of December 8, 2021, 127 people with COVID-19 (diagnosed until December 6) were hospitalized (based on registered data and including those discharged, transferred or deceased on that day). Their median age of the individuals was 65 years (Intraquartile range: 55 - 74 years), with 55.9% being for men and 37.4% for people from Nicosia district (from 123 people with the relevant information available). In total, 59 (57.3%) people with COVID-19 who were hospitalized reported underlying diseases (out of 103 people with the relevant information available).
According to the registered data, on December 8, 2021, 20 people (diagnosed until December 6) were in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – 19 people (95%) were intubated. The median age of COVID-19 patients in ICU was 67 years (Intraquartile range: 62-71 years), while 12 cases (60%) concern men. Ten (55.6%) of people hospitalized in ICU reported underlying diseases (out of 18 people with the relevant information available).
As reported by the Ministry of Health in the last 14 days, 108,513 molecular tests (PCR) (12,219.9 per 100,000 population) and 1,022,002 antigen rapid tests (115,090.3 per 100,000 population) have been performed.

As of December 6, 2021, 136,147 cases of COVID-19 have been laboratory diagnosed.
Characteristics of confirmed cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in the last 14 days
Among the 6,685 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed as of November 23, 2021, 50.5% are women (n=3,375) and 49.4% in men (n=3,303) - for 7 cases (0.1%) there was currently no information available.
By age groups: 2,019 people aged 0-19 (30.2%), 3,912 people aged 20-59 (58.5%), 754 people aged 60 years and over (11.3%). Figure 4 shows the distribution of COVID-19 cases by age group and gender.
The median age of all COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days is 33 years (Intraquartile range 15-47 years). The median age of adults (≥ 18 years) with COVID-19 is 40 years (Intraquartile range 31-52 years). The cumulative impact of 14 days (per 100,000 inhabitants), based on the age group, is shown in Figure A1 in the Annex.
Among the cases diagnosed in the last 14 days, out of 6,591 (98.6%) cases with available information, 2,702 (41%) had a place of residence in Nicosia district, 1,445 (21.9%) in Limassol district, 1,186 (18%) in Larnaca district, 872 (13.2%) in Paphos district, 379 (5.8%) in free Famagusta district and 7 incidents (0.1%) relate to British bases or residence abroad or there was no information available for them.

In the last 14 days (23 November - 6 December 2021), of the 6,583 (98.5%) cases with available information, 3.5% (n=231) concerned cases with a recent travel history, while 96.5% (n=6,352) concerned domestic transmissions. Clinical Characteristics In the last 14 days (November 23 - December 6, 2021), of 5,615 cases (84%) with available information, 8% (n=447) did not reported any symptoms at diagnosis, while 92% (n=5,168) reported at least one symptom. Underlying diseases In the last 14 days (November 23 - December 6, 2021), of the 5,161 cases (77.2%) with available information, 705 people with COVID-19 (13.7%) reported at least one underlying disease.
