912 NEW CASES - Sunday

New coronavirus cases have risen to 912 in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

Specifically:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 628.
  • 162 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 74 are in serious condition. 80.87% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
  • 15 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
  • A total of 53,715 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 912 (positivity rate: 1.7%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 150,760.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 628, of which:

  • 401 men (63.9%), and
  • 227 women (36.1%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 75.9 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 162 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 74 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 74 patients who are in serious condition, 26 are intubated, 5 are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 43 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 53,715 diagnoses made, 4,535 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 49,180 by the antigen rapid test method, 912 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 22 cases from 2,639 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 63 cases from 1,667 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 21 cases from 229 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 310 cases from 21,146 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 496 cases from 28,034 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
