No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 623, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Health.

176 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 59 are in serious condition. 78.98% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.

15 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

A total of 87,531 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test, of which 806 (positivity rate: 0.92%) new cases of COVID-19 have been identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 146,802.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 623, of which:

  • 397 men (63.7%), and
  • 226 women (36.3%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 75.9 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 176 patients of the COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 59 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 59 patients who are in serious condition, 27 are intubated, 1 is hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 31 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 87,531 diagnoses performed, 10,815 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 76,716 by the antigen rapid test method, 806 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 121 cases from 1,418 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 47 cases from 5,273 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 169 cases from 3,692 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 16 cases from 327 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 300 cases from 44,112 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 183 cases from 32,604 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 0 cases from 105 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
