Three other people have died due to coronavirus, while according to the Ministry of Health, the new positive cases of the virus amounted to 576.
More specifically:
- 3 people have died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 605.
- 128 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 43 are in serious condition. 76.57% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 6 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
- A total of 82,025 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 576 (positivity rate: 0.7% new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 138,733.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The 3 people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concern:
- Man, aged 51, who died at his home on December 7.
- Woman, aged 71, who ended up on December 8th in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- A man, aged 89 years, who ended up on December 8 at the Famagusta General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 605, of which:
- 389 men (64.3%), and
- 216 women (35.7%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 75.7 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 128 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 43 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 43 patients who are in serious condition, 16 are intubated, 4 are hospitalized in an Off-Ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 23 are hospitalized in an Increased Care Unit.

Γ. Θετικά περιστατικά COVID-19 (PCR test και rapid test αντιγόνου):
Of the 82,025 diagnoses performed, 7,562 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 74,463 by the antigen rapid test method, 576 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 120 cases from 1,393 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 17 cases from 3,103 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 92 cases from 2,599 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 9 cases from 311 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 237 cases from 40,807 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 119 cases from 33,656 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 0 cases from 156 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
