The Australian website Compare the Market presents the best places to buy a holiday home. In second place was Pafos and in ninth place Larnaka.
Specifically, Pafos took the 2nd place and Larnaca the 9th place in the Top 10 while from the Greek participation Corfu occupied the 6th place. The first place on the list was occupied by Venice.
The survey takes into account factors such as weather, crime, the number of restaurants, the cost of living, the price of real estate and the potential for activities.
For Venice, the research states: "Built on a lagoon and over 100 small islands, without roads and cars but with canals and gondolas, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet." The main reason, however, for which it occupied the first place is that it offers the opportunity for multiple activities, having a large number of restaurants and cafes.
Among the 50 destinations analyzed, Heraklion in Crete is included. It ranked 16th. According to Compare The Market, the average price of houses there is around €1,509 per square metre and the monthly cost of living for a 4-member family at €2,226.
