HOME ADMINISTRATION OF A BOOSTER DOSE OF THE VACCINE TO BEDRIDDEN PERSONS

The Ministry of Health is proceeding with home vaccination with a booster dose for those who are bedridden, following the same procedure that was applied during the initial phase of the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19.

Specifically, people who have been vaccinated at home during the initial phase of the vaccination plan and are still bedridden, will have the opportunity, if they wish, to receive the 3rd dose in their place of residence. Beneficiaries should complete the Consent Form* and present it along with the identification form and the initial vaccination card on the day of their vaccination.

In addition, people who during the initial phase of the Vaccination Program were not vaccinated at home, but today due to a health problem is bedridden, can apply for home vaccination, by filling in form B appropriately. This Form should be sent, signed, necessarily, both by the beneficiary himself or his/her representative and by the Personal Doctor to the fax 22605491.

Vaccination will be done with an mRNA vaccine. Home administration of the booster dose concerns persons whose period of six months has elapsed since the vaccination with the2nd dose and fall into the following population categories:

  1. People aged 60 years and over
  2. People regardless of age who fall into the following groups:
  • In active therapy for solid tumors and haematological malignancies
  • With a history of transplantation of solid organs taking immunosuppressive therapy
  • With a history of transplantation of primordial hematopoietic organs that receive immunosuppressive therapy
  • With hereditary immunodeficiency
  • With HIV Infection/AIDS
  • In immunosuppressive therapy including biological agents. As far as cortisone is concerned, it concerns people who have received or are receiving a total dose of >10 mg of prednisone/day (=8 mg of methylprednisolone) for 1 month in the last six months.
  • With severe chronic respiratory disease
  • With severe chronic heart and vascular disease
  • With severe chronic kidney disease
  • With severe chronic liver disease
  • With severe chronic neurological disease
  • With Diabetes Mellitus and other endocrine diseases
  • With hemoglobinopathies.
