FRIGATE - SHTANDART

From 26/11 to 5/12 Limassol will host frigate “Shtandart” - replica of the first warship of the Russian Baltic Fleet, launched by Peter the Great in 1703. The original frigate remained in service for 24 years and up to 1917 several yachts of the Russian Imperial Court were named in her honour. The modern replica has been launched in 1999 and since then serves as a ”school under sails” for young yachtsmen and sailing enthusiasts. In 2011, she played Willem Barents’ ship in Dutch historic drama “Nova Zembla”.
The “Shtandart” is currently on a training cruise in Greece. While in Limassol, the frigate will be opened for visitors. Excursions in English at 10am, 12noon, 2pm and 4pm (€10 adults, €7 kids, no reservation needed).
