CYPRUS - WILL RECEIVE FOR 2021-2027 €2.723 billion IN GRANTS

According to preliminary data for the 2021 – 2027 programme period, Cyprus will receive €2.723 billion in grants and €200 million in loans, informed today in a meeting, the Member of the European Court of Auditors Lazaros Lazarou, the Commissioner for Agricultural Payments Andreas Kyprianou.

An announcement states that the purpose of the Lazarus-Kyprianou meeting was to present the results of the Annual Report of the European Union's auditors for 2020.

Mr. Lazarou informed the Commissioner that the Annual Report refers to Cyprus in two special reports of the European Court of Auditors. The first concerns the sustainable use of water in agriculture, while the second concerns the Commission's monitoring of member states leaving the macroeconomic adjustment programme.

Moreover, he mentioned that from the accession of Cyprus to the European Union in 2004 until the end of 2020, Cyprus had a total revenue of €328 million. Cyprus has the highest absorption rate of European funds, of the order of 75% compared to the average of the Countries of the European Union, which is 62%.
