CRIME BEHIND THE DISAPPEARANCE OF TWO RUSSIAN WOMEN - ONE PERSON ARRESTED

Filenews 29 November 2021 - by Michalis Hadjivasilis

A double crime seems to be behind the disappearance for 12 days of two Russian women who lived in Larnaca. This possibility is being investigated since yesterday by the Police, which under extreme secrecy has arrested a person who has already been detained for seven days, by decision of the Larnaca District Court.

The suspect was taken by the Larnaca IWT last Saturday to the Court without any announcement of anything about an investigation into the kidnapping case. The disappearance of the two Russian women, aged 43 and 33, was reported to the Police on November 17 and despite efforts to locate them and the announcement of their disappearance with photographs, they were not identified.

As part of the investigations, information was recently given to the Police about a person who transported the two girls to a cottage in Moniatis. This person was identified and allegedly reported that he did indeed take the two women to the cottage of their own free will, but returned them to their home the same day, a claim that is being investigated.

As soon as the information was received by the authorities, members of the Larnaca IWT along with experts of the Criminal Investigation Service went last Friday to the cottage in Moniatis, where they carried out extensive and thorough investigations. The investigations continued on Saturday. Experts found traces of blood in various parts of the premises. Samples were taken and the results confirmed the worst-case scenario that police officers feared. Yesterday, after analyses at the Institute of Neurology and Genetics, they showed that the blood found is, firstly, human and secondly, identified with the genetic material of one of the disappeared.

This is a fundamental change of circumstances and now, as a police source told "F", there is a serious examination of the possibility that a criminal act is behind the disappearance of the two women.

It is noted that the two women for days had no communication with their loved ones, who began to search for them, while the Larnaca IRS receives statements from various persons and examines the signal of the two women's mobile phones, to see where they were last taken.
