The 10-19 year olds are now the focus of the greatest burden of coronavirus diagnoses according to the data presented by the National Report of the last 14 days. From the data, an increasing trend in daily coronavirus diagnoses appears, while hospitalizations of patients also show a slight increase.
All provinces, especially Paphos and Famagusta, have an increase in the cumulative impact. The active reproduction number R is 0.95 (0.90 - 1.00).
Summary of the data
As of November 8, 2021, 125,110 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the Republic of Cyprus, with 587 deaths due to COVID-19 (COVID-19 mortality: 0.5%).
• The cumulative 14-day incidence of COVID-19 (diagnosed cases of 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants) is 284.7.
• In the last 14 days (October 26 - November 8, 2021) 2,528 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded:
o The median age of COVID-19 cases was 35 years (Intraquartile range: 17-49 years), 51.3% for women (n= 1,296), 48.7% for men (n=1,230), while for two cases there was currently no information available.
o Based on the epidemiological history, 11% (n=274) were cases with a recent travel history, while 89% (n=2,221) are cases of domestic transmission – out of 2,485 cases (98.3%) with the relevant information available.
• As of November 10, 2021, 75 people with COVID-19 (diagnosed until November 8) were hospitalized (based on registered data and including those discharged, transferred or died on that day). Their median age was 63 years (Intraquartile range: 53 – 76 years), with 57.3% (n =43) being for men and 35.2% (n= 25) people from Nicosia district (from 71 people with available relevant information). In total, 27 (45.8%) people with COVID-19 who were hospitalized reported underlying diseases (out of 45 people with the relevant information available).
• According to the registered data, on November 10, 2021, 7 people (diagnosed until November 8) were in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – all 7 were intubated. The median age of COVID-19 patients in ICU was 56 years (Intraquartile range: 55-71 years), while 4 cases (70%) concern women.
