CASE AGAINST THE CARDIOLOGIST AND SAFEPASS TO PROCEED

Filenews 30 November 2021 - by Michalis Hadjivasilis

The Legal Service gave the green light to the Police to proceed with the registration of the case in the Court against the cardiologist from Larnaca, in relation to the counterfeit SafePass.

Already, the Police proceeded today to the registration of the file before the District Court of Larnaka for the referral of the 53-year-old cardiologist to a direct trial before the Assize Court.

According to the Legal Service, the Larnaca District Court has set December 14, 2021 as the date of the defendant's appearance before him to determine the date of his referral to the Assize Court.

The doctor had been arrested by the Police on August 6th, for the facilitation of the investigations regarding a case of conspiracy to commit a felony under investigation, forgery of an official document, circulation of a forged document, securing registration with false representations, neglectful acts that cause bodily harm and for violations of the General Health System Law, etc. he formed a massive file with testimonies and other evidence submitted to the Legal Service, with a suggestion that the case be brought to justice. The Legal Service agreed to the recommendation and so the case made its way to the Court.

The complaints concerned two patients of the doctor from Larnaca who died at the age of 41 and 43 after they became seriously ill from coronavirus. The two appeared as vaccinated in the system, when in fact they were not.

The father of the 41-year-old, who had first ended up in the ICU, a few days after he contracted COVID-19, complained that his son confided in nursing staff at the Reference Hospital where he was being treated, that despite having a vaccination certificate, he had not received the vaccine. The Police immediately proceeded to take statements. A nurse of the ICU of Famagusta General Hospital testified that before his intubation, the 41-year-old, after being asked whether he is vaccinated, said: "I wish I was." Doctors and nurses also gave testimony about these two cases, with the police's testimony being 'an incident', i.e. it does not come directly from the patients, since they have died.

Also, the Police examined other persons who were declared as vaccinated by the same doctor, however although for many it was found that they had not developed antibodies, it was considered that it was difficult to prove that this was due to the non-vaccination and so no prosecution will take place.
