Macabre and evil plan was implemented by strangers, stealing the body of a woman from the Cemetery of the Maronites in Anthoupoli, with the Police investigating, among other things, whether criminal elements aimed at putting pressure on the son of the deceased are behind this action.
The theft was reported yesterday to the Police by the person in charge of the Anthoupoli Cemetery, who went yesterday morning and realized that the grave of a woman who has been buried since 2016, was open and the body was missing from the inside. As this person told the authorities, the opening of the tomb and the theft of the remains must have taken place after 4 pm the day before yesterday until 6am yesterday.
After the complaint, police forces rushed to the scene and after it was established for which person the body was involved, an alarm was immediately sounded. The investigation of the case was undertaken by the IWT Nicosia, which cut off all accesses to the cemetery and began the investigations of both the Forensic Service and other specialized departments to locate scientific and other evidence. As it turned out, the soil was freshly dug, which proves that the tomb raiders had recently proceeded to digging and removed the bones of the deceased, and then covered the tomb with lime.
According to information provided by "F", the body is that of the mother of Ioannis Andreou, who was caught by YKAN in 2019 along with another person for a major drug case and specifically cocaine, for which he has already been convicted and is under the guard of the Police, since he is a witness under protection and is going to testify against another person. The Police are examining whether the theft of his mother's body is related to his impending testimony before the Assize Court. Following this development, measures to protect Ioannis increased. However, the Police make vehement complaints against the Courts because they delay in hearing serious cases, resulting in a long time passing and witnesses change their minds, or because they are afraid.
UPDATE
The case concerning the theft of the body of a woman from the Maronites cemetery in Anthoupoli is complicated, as according to information, after examinations carried out by two experts at the scene, the body of the witness's mother was found intact.
It should be remembered that for the case, the Police are investigating, among other things, whether criminal elements are behind this action aimed at putting pressure on the son of the deceased.
It is quite possible that the perpetrators tried to locate the bones in order to steal them, but they did not manage to reach a sufficiently large depth.
