Almost €600,000 has been received from the execution of warrants by debtors within 17 days, after the police were active, following meetings at the Ministry of Justice.
Typical is the case of a company that, while it owed with 12 warrants €100,000 to the Social Insurance, after intervening action, paid the entire amount. According to data provided to "F" by the Police, from 25 October this year until 11 November, 3,133 orders for the payment of a fine were executed for the amount of €583,302, an amount that has not been collected until today in such a short period of time.
Most of the money was collected in Nicosia and most of the warrants were executed in Limassol. Specifically, in Nicosia, 752 warrants were executed during this period, relating to the amount of €229,502. In Limassol 1,274 warrants were executed and €166,953 was collected, while in Larnaca 475 warrants were executed for the amount of €77,762. Another 417 warrants were executed in Paphos for which €60,746 was paid, while in Famagusta an amount of €43,009 was collected from the execution of 180 warrants. Finally, in the province of Morfou, 35 warrants were executed and €5,329 was paid into the coffers.
This change, with the execution of a large number of warrants in a short period of time, was achieved after the appointment of a senior police officer, who took over as coordinator of the efforts to execute the payment orders issued by the courts. Emphasis is given to those individuals or companies that owe large amounts of money and have the ability to pay them, but also to those who "were not located", while they are branded, or the services in which they work are known. All of these are named in the Auditor General's report, which cauterizes the fact that while several debtors are known, they are not identified for some reason. Specifically, the cases of four MPs, police officers, prison guards, employees of the Judicial and Legal Service, etc. are mentioned.
As shown by the results, the activity of the Warrant Collection in each police directorate has paid off, so their activity will be regularly monitored, while the whole project will be monitored by the Minister of Justice, Michalis Hadjivasilis
