Another 586 new cases were detected in the last 24 hours according to the Ministry of Health. Also, 26 cases were detected in schools and seven in nursing homes.
More specifically:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 594.
- 116 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 46 are in serious condition. 71.8% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 3 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
- A total of 102,692 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 586 (positivity rate: 0.57% new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 133,860.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 594, of which:
- 381 men (64%), and
- 213 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 75.9 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 116 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 46 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 46 patients who are in serious condition, 18 are intubated, 3 are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 25 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 102,692 diagnoses performed, 7,404 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 95,288 by the antigen rapid test method, 586 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 19 cases from 600 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 10 cases from 4,505 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 57 cases from 1,712 samples taken through private initiative.
- 4 cases from 373 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 354 cases from 63,729 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 141 cases from 31,559 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
- 1 case from 213 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 0 cases from 1 sample taken as part of checks in closed facilities.
