No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 588, according to today's announcement by the Ministry of Health. At the same time, as stated in the announcement, 386 (positivity rate: 0.65%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 128,424.
Also 88 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 38 are in serious condition. 62.5% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination. 3 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit. A total of 59,730 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 588, of which:
- 376 men (64%), and
- 212 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 88 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 38 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 38 patients who are in serious condition, 15 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 21 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 59,730 diagnoses performed, 5,103 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 54,627 by the antigen rapid test method, 386 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 44 cases from 533 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 80 cases from 2,104 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 10 cases from 260 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 144 cases from 31,478 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 108 cases from 23,149 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 1,870 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 334 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
- 2 samples taken in the context of checks in closed structures.
