The Ministry of Health on Monday announced 284 new cases of COVID-19 and 67 hospitalized, with the positivity rate standing at 0.42%. No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded, therefore the number of deaths remains 576, while cases rise to 126,231.
According to the competent Ministry, out of the 67 COVID-19 patients hospitalized, 22 are in serious condition, while 65.68% of the hospitalized have no history of vaccination.
Also, a post-COVID patient who has ceased to be infectious (declassified case), continues to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units
In the meantime, a total of 67,349 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 576, of which:
- 368 men (64%), and
- 208 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.1 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 67 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 22 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 22 patients who are in serious condition, eight are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 13 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 67,349 diagnoses performed, 4,474 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 62,875 by the antigen rapid test method, 284 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 30 cases from 423 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 4 cases from 1,665 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 44 cases from 1,759 samples taken through private initiative.
- 3 cases from 340 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
- 149 cases from 40,318 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 54 cases from 22,557 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 287 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
