One person died on Saturday from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 590, while 255 new cases were identified, the Ministry of Health announced. The positivity rate stood at 0.50% while the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic has risen to 129,888.
According to the Ministry, 92 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 35 are in serious condition. 60.87% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
Also, 3 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
A total of 50,980 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The one person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:
- Woman, aged 71 years, who ended up on November 20 in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 590, of which:
- 377 men (64%), and
- 213 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 92 patients of the COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 35 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 35 patients who are in serious condition, 15 are intubated, 2 are hospitalized in an Off-Ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 18 are hospitalized in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 50,980 diagnoses performed, 3,458 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 47,522 by the antigen rapid test, 255 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 5 cases from 1,258 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 65 cases from 2,054 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 1 case from 145 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 122 cases from 35,520 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 62 cases from 12,002 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 0 cases from 1 sample taken as part of checks in closed facilities.
