The Ministry of Health announces that today, November 12, 2021, one person has died from COVID-19, while 224 are the new cases of the disease.
Specifically:
- One person died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 588.
- 82 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 34 are in serious condition. 64.64% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 3 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
- A total of 58,320 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 224 (positivity rate: 0.38%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 127,260.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The one person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:
- A woman, aged 82, who ended up today at Paphos General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 588, of which:
- 376 men (64%), and
- 212 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 82 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 34 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 34 patients who are in serious condition, eight are intubated, three are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 23 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 58,320 diagnoses made, 4,491 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 53,829 by the antigen rapid test method, 224 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 31 cases from 708 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 3 cases from 1,575 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 50 cases from 1,767 samples taken through private initiative.
- 102 cases from 32,205 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 38 cases from 21,624 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 223 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 218 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
