212 NEW CASES - SUNDAY

The Ministry of Health announced that on Sunday, 212 new cases of COVID-19 were identified from molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 130,100. Therefore, the positivity rate is set at 0.48%.

No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 590.

At the same time, 105 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 35 are in serious condition. 61.91% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.

According to the Ministry, 5 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Today, a total of 43,821 tests for the detection of the disease were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

No deaths

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 590, of which:

- 377 men (64%), and

- 213 women (36%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 105 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 35 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 35 patients who are in serious condition, 15 are intubated, 3 are hospitalized in an Off-Ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 17 are hospitalized in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 43,821 diagnoses performed, 3,443 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 40,378 by the antigen rapid test, 212 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 7 cases from 408 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 3 cases from 1,666 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 34 cases from 963 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 4 cases from 101 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 76 cases from 18,479 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 86 cases from 21,899 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
  • 2 cases from 305 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
