WHAT'S CHANGING IN COVID DIGITAL CERTIFICATES

 Filenews 21 October 2021

The national control rules for European COVID Digital Certificates have been updated through the CovScan app, the Deputy Ministry of Research for Innovation and Digital Policy said.

Specifically, the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy informs citizens and businesses that the national rules for the control of the European COVID Digital Certificates through the CovScan Cyprus application have been updated so that they are in line with Regulation 82 of the Infectious Diseases Decree (No. 38) of 2021 (date 18 October 2021).

Specifically, valid audit results will now be extracted through the application if the following conditions are met:

  • a negative laboratory test or rapid antigen detection test for COVID-19 with sampling carried out within 72 hours, either
  • certificate of integrated vaccination regimen for the covid-19 disease, either
  • a certificate of recovery from the COVID-19 disease, valid for six (6) months from the date of sampling of their initial positive diagnosis.

It is recalled that the above provisions apply to all indoor and outdoor areas and / or organizations and / or businesses and / or premises where, in compliance with the distancing measures, there is the possibility of gathering more than 10 persons, including employees, and are required for persons aged 12 years and over.

It is noted that for the purposes of issuing the European Digital Certificate COVID,it is still possible to issue it under the same conditions that were in force until today, namely:

  • if you have been vaccinated (with one (1) or two (2) doses of vaccine) with the administration and has been registered in the relevant database of the Ministry of Health. However, any issuance of a European Digital COVID Certificate with one dose does not negate the fact that for control purposes according to the second sub-case of Regulation 82, only accepted certificates issued on the basis of a comprehensive vaccination scheme will be accepted.
  • if you have been laboratory diagnosed for COVID-19 and the result has been declared and registered in the relevant database of the Ministry of Health
  • if you have undergone laboratory testing for COVID-19 using an antigen rapid test or molecular methodology (e.g. RT-PCR) and a negative result. It is noted that the result must be registered by the laboratory on the relevant basis of the Ministry of Health. The certificate is available for issue on the portal eudcc.gov.cy up to 7 days from the date of sampling.

It is recalled that the "CovScan Cyprus" application allows the validity of the European COVID Digital Certificates to be checked easily, quickly and safely.

It can be installed on any device that uses Android software (for versions newer than Android 8.1), and is available for free through Google Play. By scanning the QR code indicated on the certificate, the application presents the result of the validity check. There are three levels of control:

  • Green: the certificate is "Valid" and means that the holder of the certificate has completed his vaccination regimen or has been ill from COVID-19.
  • Yellow: the certificate is "Valid" and means that the holder of the certificate has undergone a laboratory test (RT-PCR or antigen rapid test) with a negative result.
  • Red: the certificate is "Invalid".
