TALA CEMETERY
As has been the case for at least the last 5 years, please bear in mind that only those who pay their Council taxes, and have paid the cemetery tax [which was applied for 2 years when the new cemetery was built], to Tala Council are eligible for a plot in Tala Cemetery at the residents rate.
Due to the restricted number of burial plots available on the island, and the fact that people were 'shopping around' to find the cheapest plot available, all communities applied two-tiered pricing for burial plots. One is for 'residents' ie those who have paid their rates and cemetery tax to the community council in question, and one for non-residents. For Tala residents, the current charge for a plot in Tala Cemetery is €900. For non-residents, the current charge for a plot in Tala Cemetery is €5,000.
If you are a tenant of a property in Tala, and the rates remain in the landlord's name, please ensure you keep receipts to prove that you have paid the rates to your landlord, and also retain a copy of your rental agreement with those receipts.
Those who do not qualify as 'residents', used to be able to find a plot in Paphos Cemetery and also at Erimi, in Limassol. It appears that Paphos Cemetery will now only accept those resident in Paphos Municipality, which leaves the only option left for those affected at Erimi.
Please bear this in mind if you are sorting out your affairs or discussing long-terms plans with Angel Guardians.
All of this, of course, highlights the need for a crematorium!
