Well thought out seems to have been the robbers who took €70,000 from a Russian resident of Paphos by brutally beating him inside his house.
The 64-year-old would leave tonight for a permanent establishment in his homeland, after the death of his wife, which was the reason he took his savings from the bank. It is estimated, however, that this event was somehow leaked to circles related to him or even to the Russian community of Pafos and a few hours before his departure for Moscow, the robbery took place.
The 64-year-old was alone in the house shortly after 15:00, when three people hit the main entrance of his home. When the 64-year-old opened the door to see who was there, the three robbers attacked him and beat him savagely with their hands and using an iron object, seriously injuring him.
The robbers entered the residence and snatched more than €70,000 in the 64-year-old's possession and then disappeared in an unknown direction. According to the victim's testimony to the Police, the perpetrators are his compatriots, since they addressed him in their mother tongue, although he perceived that they were Greek. He also said the robbers were wearing hoods and could not be identified.
The robbery was committed in the area of "Universal" in Kato Paphos where the 64-year-old maintains a detached house. A strong police force under the police director of Pafos, Nikos Tsappis, and the Assistant Police Director, Michalis Ioannou, went to the place and began investigating the data and collecting evidence.
The investigations are directed, above all, towards the victim's professional and friendly circle, in order to show how the perpetrators knew with such certainty the existence of such a treasure in the residence a few hours before his permanent departure from Cyprus.
