The Deputy Ministry of Tourism offers free fast-paced online language learning programs to people who are employed in tourism businesses or have been employed in hotels, leisure centres, tourist offices or are licensed tour guides.
Within the framework of the Actions of the Deputy Ministry to upgrade the level of services provided by tourism enterprises, the launch of the following free of charge fast-paced online language learning programs at beginners (A1) and moderate knowledge level (A2) is announced: (1) Greek language learning to foreigners employed in tourism businesses, (2) Russian, (3) German, (4) French and (5) English (only A1).
1. Learning the Greek language to foreigners who are employed in tourism businesses.
2. Russian
3. German
4. French
5. English (beginners level only)
2 types of online tutoring programs will be offered in each language:
Type A: for 12 weeks from November 2021 to February 2022 (3) times a week and
Type B: for 18 weeks from November 2021 to April 2022 (2) times a week, in morning or afternoon time depending on the entries.
Courses start: November 2021, on a date to be determined
End of courses: February 2022 for the accelerated program (3 times per week)
April 2022 (2 times a week)
Participation Criteria:
- The program is open to people over the age of 18 who in the year 2020 and / or 2021 have been employed in hotels, recreation centres, tourist offices or are licensed tour guides.
- In order to participate, the application form must be filled in. The application must be accompanied by a certificate from the employer and a copy of the payroll payment for the years 2020 and/or 2021. For the participation of licensed tour guides, proof of payment of social security contributions for the years 2020 and / or 2021 is required.
- The application and the above receipts must be submitted electronically to the e-mail address languages@visitcyprus.com, by Friday, November 5, 2021.
General information:
- The terminology of the courses has been adapted to meet the needs of the tourism industry.
- The programs will be conducted through an online platform.
- There will be groups of participants, depending on the entries.
- Each group will not exceed 15 people.
- Attendance is mandatory and the maximum allowed number of absences is 6 (six).
- Upon completion of the program, participants will participate in an examination, the manner of which will be determined at a later stage.
- Certificates will be granted:
1. Students who will pass the final exam.
2. Students who have not exceeded the absence limit.
