Once again on alert the authorities. Only 13% of citizens over the age of 60 who are entitled to receive the third dose of coronavirus vaccine have proceeded with their booster vaccination, while data from the Vaccination Portal do not give any optimistic messages at all, as only a few hundred new appointments are arranged every day. Specifically, of the 184,912 people over the age of 60 who have received both doses of the vaccine, only 24,940 have had had a booster vaccination by Tuesday.
At the same time, in intensive care units the percentage of vaccinated people admitted shows a gradual and slow but steady increase in the last two weeks, and in the common hospital wards the data reflect the situation, even in the relatively small number currently hospitalized with coronavirus.
For the record, last Tuesday, while 12 coronavirus patients were hospitalized in the ICU, 5 of them were people from 67 to 82 years old with a full vaccination history. Scientists are worried and warn, reiterating the need for readjustment of measures, since beyond any doubt, vaccination alone is not an absolute shield of protection, while the Ministries of Health and Education are running to catch up, since already in schools began to record chains of cases between students and teachers. Yesterday, a school was closed following a decision by the two ministries, while a second school was closed in the previous days due to an increased number of incidents.
However, a different view seems to arise among those responsible for the issue of schools, as one school of thought is turning in the direction of suspending schools with greater ease, while another wants this to be done sparingly, especially when it is established that the transmissions are not intra-school.
