One person has died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 562, according to today's announcement by the Ministry of Health. At the same time, the ministry announced 99 (positivity rate: 0.26%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 122,362.
55 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 21 are in serious condition. 63.8% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
9 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
A total of 38,627 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The one person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:
- A woman, aged 60, who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 562, of which:
- 356 men (63%), and
- 206 women (37%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.3 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 55 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 21 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 21 patients who are in serious condition, 10 are intubated in an Intensive Care Unit and 11 in an Increased Care Unit.
C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 38,627 diagnoses performed, 5,095 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 33,532 by the antigen rapid test method, 99 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 9 cases from 65 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 12 cases from 3,750 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 8 cases from 915 samples taken through private initiative.
- 3 cases from 62 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 29 cases from 14,724 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 38 cases from 18,808 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 303 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
