The Ministry of Health announces that today, October 3, 2021, no deaths of patients with a final cause of death, COVID-19, were recorded, while 83 are the new cases of the disease.
Specifically:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, covid-19, so the total number of deaths remains 554.
- 68 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 27 are in serious condition. 60.28% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 11 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
- A total of 42,672 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 83 (positivity rate: 0.19%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 120,498.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 554, of which:
- 351 men (63%), and
- 203 women (37%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.4 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 68 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 27 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 27 patients who are in serious condition, 12 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 13 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 42,672 diagnoses performed, 5,565 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 37,107 by the antigen rapid test method, 83 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 18 cases from 238 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 13 cases from 3,560 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 13 cases from 1,259 samples taken through private initiative.
- 5 cases from 94 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 17 cases from 16,655 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 17 cases from 20,452 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 413 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
- 1 sample taken as part of a closed structure check.
