Following a decision of the Council of Ministers on October 15th and in the context of the goal of shielding through the administration of the 3rd dose of groups of the population that are more vulnerable to severe illness from COVID-19, the Ministry of Health informs that from tomorrow, October 19, 2021, vaccinations with a 3rd dose of people 60 years of age and older begin.
Specifically, all people who belong to the age group of 60 years and older and provided that a period of 6 months has necessarily elapsed since the vaccination with the 2nd dose, will be able from tomorrow to arrange an appointment for the booster dose through the Vaccination Portal. In addition, the 3rd dose will be administered for the 60 and above and at the free-to-go vaccination centres operating in all provinces, every Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. [Paphos is Paphos General Hospital].
As far as vulnerable groups approved by the Council of Ministers on October 15th for the administration of the 3rd dose are concerned, vaccinations will be made after an appointment after a telephone communication from the Ministry of Health.
By 17 October, the booster dose was administered to 30,766 people. The vaccination coverage of the adult population with at least the 1st dose is at 81.7% and the percentage of fully vaccinated reached 79.3%. Among people aged 16 and 17 years, 41.7% have received at least the 1st dose of the vaccine and 39.4% have completed their vaccination regimen. Finally, in the age group of 12-15 years, 27.6% were vaccinated with at least the 1st dose and 25.2% received both doses, completing their vaccination.
