The Ministry of Health announces that today, October 27, 2021, one person has died from covid-19, specifically an 85-year-old woman who ended up at Famagusta General Hospital, while 200 are the new cases.
Specifically:
- One person died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 571.
- 56 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 18 are in serious condition. 55.36% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 3 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
- A total of 55,143 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 200 (positivity rate: 0.36%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 123,908.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The one person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:
- A woman, aged 85, who ended up today at Famagusta General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 571, of which:
- 363 men (64%), and
- 208 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.1 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 56 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 18 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 18 patients who are in serious condition, eight are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Ventilator Intensive Care Unit and seven are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail, the situation in the hospitals is the following:
C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 55,143 diagnoses performed, 4,340 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 50,803 by the antigen rapid test method, 200 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 41 cases from 462 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 7 cases from 1,974 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 34 cases from 1,473 samples taken through private initiative.
- 1 case from 181 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 68 cases from 24,991 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 49 cases from 25,812 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 250 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
