The Ministry of Health announces that today, October 14, 2021, no deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded, while 153 are the new cases of the disease. At the same time, 60 patients are hospitalized, of which 22 are in serious condition.
Specifically:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 559.
- 60 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 22 are in serious condition. 65.08% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 10 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
- A total of 54,108 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 153 (positivity rate: 0.28%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 121,995.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 559, of which:
- 354 men (63%), and
- 205 women (37%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.2 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 60 patients of the COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 22 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 22 patients who are in serious condition, nine are intubated, one is hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 12 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 54,108 diagnoses performed, 4,559 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 49,549 by the antigen rapid test, 153 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 26 cases from 370 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 6 cases from 2,443 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 20 cases from 1,403 samples taken through private initiative.
- 5 cases from 216 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1 case from 127 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
- 71 cases from 29,766 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 24 cases from 19,783 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
