144 NEW CASES - Thursday.

There have been 144 positive cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, while no deaths were recorded. It should be noted that cases were detected in primary and secondary education.

Specifically:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 566.
  • 58 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 24 are in serious condition. 55.18% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
  • 3 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
  • A total of 55,422 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 144 (positivity rate: 0.26%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 122,996.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 566, of which:

  • 360 men (63%), and
  • 206 women (37%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.2 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 58 patients of the COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 24 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 24 patients who are in serious condition, nine are intubated, two are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 13 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 55,422 diagnoses performed, 4,387 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 51,035 by the antigen rapid test method, 144 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 26 cases from 333 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 12 cases from 2,349 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 26 cases from 1,490 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 1 case from 178 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 57 cases from 28,598 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 22 cases from 22,437 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 37 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
